DOB: February 9, 1909. POB: Cherokee County, Georgia. Wife: Virginia Foisle. Children: David Patrick Rusk, Washington, D.C.; Richard Geary Rusk, of Bishop, Georgia; Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Rusk, Stafford, VA. Was a student at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. Secretary of State. Following the assassination, Wm. Atwood raised the possibility that Dean Rusk was not being informed of the Cuban response to American efforts to establish talks during fall of 1963, in light of Atwood's knowledge that the President was more in favor of the project than the State Department was. (MMF 1810-1811) DOD: December 20, 1994, at age 85. Memorandum of conversation between Rusk and Herter Jan 3, 1961 where Herter informs Rusk of recommendation to break off diplomatic relations with Cuba.
